This is cute with its pussycat design.It comes as 3 pieces.Everything is plastic and can stand heat up to 120 c (boiling yes/ frying no)The base is a large bowl which can be used as a salad bowl at table if you want.The middle piece is a drainer bowl which sits inside the main bowlWhen you are making ramen or cooking veg, this bit makes it easy to lift out the cooked food ,leaving the water or soup.The last piece is the lid which sits just inside the drainer. It has a cut out for the cat's mouth and to allow some steam to escape.The lid can be used as a shallow bowl if you turn it up to sit on the ears and tail (remember the mouth is a cut out).I was surprised that the lid only fits in the drainer and not the bowl without the drainer which might have added to its uses.All the pieces sit loose in each other, there is no method of clamping them together and no gasket.For Ramen, this work well as all you really do is sit the noodles in boiling water or put it all in the microwave and let that heat the water.For Veg, you also need to add water, it allows cooking of leafy greens, carrots etc and can be used to make steamed type potatoes too .You can heat canned veg that have been emptied into it and then microwavedYou cant use it to 'cook' meats due to their fat content getting hotter than 120 cDont try cooking bread or cakes in it for the same reasonNOT FOR heating meat pies, sausage rolls and pasties( they get too hot).Dont use knives in it to cut up foods as it will scratch.Washing is dishwasher or hand wash.Dont use scratchy scourers.It can store with the lid upside down inside the drainer to make it a bit less tall.Its a fun looking item, quite oriental styled but a bit pricey for what it is.

Let's start with the really nice aesthetics, it looks more like a "pretend to play" type children's toy than a kitchen utensil but it really works :).The basket where the noodles or vegetables or whatever you want to use it for, doesn't have much of a gap with the tray underneath so the noodles (I tried the steamer with the noodles) float a bit in the water before going into the microwave.Very light, but sturdier than you would think.I tried giving the noodles two minutes and then three minutes, but they we still "uncooked" a little, they didn't come apart like I thought they would, so I would recommend giving them roughly 4 minutes. The price is good, maybe a little higher than what I imagined and what I would have paid.
