Anyone who's used these know how nicely they work, however unlike the old pole model more of the sheet rock dust gets on you, but anyone who's done this type of sanding knows to wear the proper gear to help protect their lungs, and keep as much out of their hair, and eyes as possible. A simple hat makes all the difference. Be aware that normal N95 type masks aren't made to protect you against these fine dust particles (think about that compared to particles you can't see, as you can see this dust, just sayin), but most of the N95's work pretty good for short term use.As I have many more rooms to do, I am ordering this itemhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007JZ1MK6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=13M Half Facepiece Reusable Respirator 6300, Gases, Vapors, Dust, Paint, Cleaning, Grinding, Sawing, Sanding, Welding, LargeNow listing all the things it will work for, you have to know it requires separate filters for specific uses. For drywall non-oil based products it has thishttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KYX8JBU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3V3F063MCD125&th=1I asked if "do they protect against sheet rock dust?""According to customer reviews, the 3M 2091 P100 Particulate Filters provide effective protection against dust from sanding sheet rock. Several customers reported that the filters helped prevent coughing and breathing issues when working with drywall."For oil based vaporshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009POHLRC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=13M P100 Respirator Cartridge/Filter 60926, 1 Pair, Helps Protect Against Organic Vapors, Acid Gases, Ammonia Methylamine, Formaldehyde and ParticulatesThey are not cheap, but it's your lungs. I know this is a bit more than about the sanding sponges, but felt it important enough to include as protective equipment is essential to one's health.

This sponge sander is about the size of an adult male's hand. It is a great fine sanding sponge that has helped me finish several projects. You do NOT need to push hard with this item. I think people complaining of it ripping or not being durable are pushing very hard or sanding over and over with the same spot on the sponge.I have used this on wood and drywall for two wood projects and 7 sheets of drywall installation. Gave it a rinse after each project and it is holding up great.I want to repeat - you should NOT be pushing hard with this. It is meant to be used with very light pressure. Let the sponge do the work.

This sponge comes from the US, which I didn't realise when I bought it. It took 8 days to arrive. I had someone coming to sand my sheds, and although the sandpaper that i had ordered arrived in time, this didn't, which made things much harder for them.Update: I used this to sand a very softwood trellis yesterday, and although it worked, it certainly isn't very robust, and is already very damaged and torn just from that. Also note, that this is 'fine' sandpaper...something I didn't notice when I bought it.
