This is absolute rubbish. It’s made of a light tin like material and it is bent. When you open it the whole thing is spaced unevenly so it is definitely not fit for purpose. It is a waste of money. I would give it zero stars if there was an option to do so.

On receiving this I tried it to let me know where to place my button holes on my latest project, it didn't help me at all, as it isn't accurate and very flimsy, very hard to fold back up had to struggle with it, in my opinion don't waste your money on this and buy a dearer one instead

My hobby is woodworking rather than sewing, but this tool is ideal for marking/working out distances between dovetail joints, and saves a lot of working out!It is not the most robust of tools and care is needed when opening, and especially when closing the device, but it does the job well and at a price that will not break the bank.I am sure there are many other applications for this, so it will reside in a convenient place in my workshop. A handy tool.

When you are pulling this gauge inwards or outwards there is some deviance at the outer most dividers compared to the inner ones. This is probably due to those dividers not having two lots of supports holding them in place. You can set the distances manually by giving them a nudge back to the right place and setting them with a ruler, but if you are expecting to be able to simply pull them apart and have accurate divisions straight away then only use the inner dividers. That all said for the price it is a handy piece of kit to have in the workshop but the "proper" ones of these I have seen for sale in hardware stores usually have multiple cross sections concertinaing back from the dividers to keep all the spaces equal.
