I have the hardest water, so hard the shower stings my eyes. After discovering the difference a shower filter made to my shower experience (now sting-free!) I wanted to do the same for my washer, and possibly eliminate further mineral buildup around the door seal which is really annoying. This filter attaches to the water line and it seems to work well so far. You will need to use less laundry soap to clean your clothes in soft water. One caveat: the diameter of the top part is somewhat large, so if your tap doesn't stick out from the wall very far it may be a tight fit or not fit at all. In my bathroom, it just barely fits, right up against the wall. I recommend to the manufacturer that they slim down the design a bit. Recommended.
