Excelent CD only bought it after hearing the single Hideaway on my sons ipod while tidying up the garden and the rest of the songs were just as good.

After listening to Faded Seaside Glamour I had much higher expectations for this album. I guess I have to go back and give a few more listens, but I always find myself returning to their first album which is beautiful.

The stark a cappela vocal "To the bitter end..." at the beginning of You and Me comes as a surprise, even if the falsetto does not. Then the violins kick in and you know you're in a Delays album.The pace continues with the stomping Valentine, before settling into a synth/guitar driven album full of soaring melodies, sweeping harmonies and toe tapping melodies.This is a mature follow up to Faded Seaside Glamour, and dismisses the "difficult second album" tag within the first 2 minutes.

Wenn Sänger Greg Gilbert seine Band als Fabeldichter sieht, so kann man nur sagen, dass dies mehr als zutreffend ist, denn die CD ist einfach fabelhaft. Auch ich bin über den schon von meinem Vorrezensenten erwähnten britischen Radiosender auf die CD aufmerksam geworden, und die Titel gehen mir seither einfach nicht mehr aus dem Ohr. "You and Me" ist das absolute Highlight, ein Gute-Laune-Song pur, ebenso wie Valentine. Das sind Melodien, die auch bei trübem Winterwetter prächtige Stimmung aufkommen lassen. Ich hatte das Vergnügen, die Band im letzten Jahr in meinem Schottland-Urlaub als Vorgruppe der Manic Street Preachers live zu sehen, und mir war schon damals klar, dass man von den Jungs noch einiges hören wird. Das haben sie mit You See Colours eindrucksvoll bestätigt.

Da das neue Album der Delays derzeit bei einem britischen Radiosender als "CD der Woche" präsentiert wird, dauerte es nicht lange, bis sich die Single-Auskopplung "Valentine" in meine Ohren eingebrannt hat. Aber natürlich sorgen auch die zehn weiteren Songs für einen großartigen Gesamteindruck. Mein Anspieltipp neben "Valentine" ist "You and me".Ein unverkennbarer britischer Sound, allerdings sehr pop-orientiert. Wer mal etwas anderes als den "typischen Britpop" hören möchte, ist bei den aus Southampton stammenden Delays genau richtig. Schwungvolle Musik (teilweise erinnern sie an The Corrs) und eine sehr weiblich klingende Stimme, die ähnlich wie die von Brett Anderson (Suede, The Tears) alle Höhen durchläuft und gerne mal dramatisch "kippt". Die Delays schaffen den richtigen Mix aus melodiösem Pop und anspruchsvoller Musik. Die CD wird in jedem Player locker den Sommer überstehen.

This is my first ever review, but if an album deserved it this is it. So many albums nowadays have a few memorable songs, some seem to get away with one hit single, but this is different. It's packed with powerful upbeat foot tapping tunes and yes it is different to Faded Seaside Glamour, but these guys have upped their game in a big way. Sod the Arctic Monkeys, this is the album everyone should be raving about. Every instrument plays a part on this album and in my opinion there are so few flatspots as to be inconsequential. Don't look for ballads either, Waste of Space is the closest there is! Buy it, play it loud...
