This product was sent to me for review, as part of Amazon Vine. The following is my own real-world experience of using it.In terms of build quality, the thermostat itself seems fairly robust, and has been properly-machined, which ensures an exact fit. To that end, I had no issues replacing my (non-smart) valve with it, and didn't require any of the included adapters (though they are handy, if needed).I will say that I found the setup process to be too complicated; the instructions weren't as clear as they could have been, and it doesn't help that the LCD on the device is upside-down, when the device is installed vertically - it makes the information on it look like nonsense. After some perseverance, I did manage to get it paired with the Tuya app, and subsequently, Amazon Alexa. Since then, I have found the connection to be pretty reliable, and have been finding the voice-command feature (with Alexa) really useful.All in all, it seems to work well when set up, but the installation process could be improved. A good value item, nonetheless.

Das Thermostat kommt mit allen Möglichen Anschlussadaptern für Heizkörper an. Die Installation am Heizkörper ist recht gut erklärt. Da die Adapter alle nur aus Plate sind, nicht mit rohen Kräften arbeiten. Da es weder in Home Assistant noch mit decons funktioniert, kann ich zur Einbindung ins Zigbee-Netz nichts sagen.

Das Thermostat von ECOBAY kommt gleich im Set mit einem ZIGBEE Gateway, an das dann auch mehrere Geräte gekoppelt werden können. Aus meiner Sicht praktisch ist die Verwendung der mir schon gut bekannten TUYA App, mit der die Einbindung und Einrichtung recht einfach funktioniert. Eigentlich muss man nur das Gateway einbinden, der Rest geht dann automatisch. Alternativ kann man auch die ebenfalls sehr verbreitete SmartLife-App verwenden und alles natürlich auch über Alexa oder Google steuern.Das Ventil selbst ist nicht schlecht, vor allem ist sie innen mit einem Metall-Pin versehen. Seit mir ein Plastikpin mal abgebrochen ist, achte ich da drauf. Die Montage am Heizkörper ist mit den zahlreichen beiligenden Adaptern unproblematisch. Für den Thermostat braucht man zwei AA-Batterien, das Gateway läuft über einen USB-Anschluss, das Kabel ist mit dabei, ein Netzteil nicht.Das Display ist mit weißen LEDs realisiert, die aufgrund des höheren Energieverbrauchs aber nicht immer leuchten. Dafür sind sie auch im Dunkeln immer gut abzulesen. Abgelesen kann es von der Seite des Drehrads her und die Richtung kann nicht verändert werden. Zusätzlich zur Temperaturanzeige gibt es noch einige Icons, die anzeigen, ob gerade geheizt wird und in welchem Modus es gerade läuft.Die Verstellung kann über ein Drehrad am vorderen Ende gemacht werden, das leider sehr glatt ist und schlecht reagiert. Sinnvollerweise stellt man so ein smartes Thermostat natürlich über die App und entsprechend Zeit- oder Ereignisgesteuert ein, so dass eine manuelle Verstellung im Normalfall nicht so wichtig ist. Hier wäre aber trotzdem ein griffigeres Drehrad besser. Es scheint auch nicht immer sofort zu reagieren und die eingestellte Temperatur springt beim Drehen manchmal hin und her, aber nur um ein halbes Grad.Über die App lassen sich wie gesagt etliche Einstellungen vornehmen, so dass man die Heizung sehr gut auf die eigenen Bedürfnisse anpassen kann. Zuästzlich können noch weitere Geräte verbunden werden, z.B. ein Fensterkontakt, weitere Temperatursensoren und natürlich weitere Thermostate. Die Bedienung über die App ist sehr eingängig.Bei mir hat das Thermostat bisher einwandfrei funktioniert und immer reagiert, wenn ich die Einstellungen über die App verändert habe. Sonst läuft die Zeitsteuerung problemlos. Nur ab und zu verstelle ich die Temperatur manuell. Hier zeigt sich mit dem glatten und ohne Rasterung versehenem Drehrad das bisher einzige Manko dieses Sets. Ansonsten kann ich es sehr empfehlen und finde es besser als alle bisher verwendeten Thermostate.

This is a really good idea for controlling the temperature of a room with variable timed settings. This device connects to your WiFi and you control it using an app on your phone. You do not need any extra boxes or a hub, it is completely stand alone and managed with an app, no need even for an internet connection, just a local WiFi network.The app enables you to set a Wake, Leave, Return, Sleep pattern where each time can have a different temperature. I've installed this in my bedroom which does not need to be heated during the day. I have it set to only turn on for Wake and Return. I estimate this will reduce the cost of heating this room by about 25% because it isn't needlessly being heated when nobody is in it.The idea is great, if you can make it work. The instructions are hopeless, they aren't easy to follow, they don't make a lot of sense. First of all it tells you to turn on Bluetooth to pair with your phone, but it doesn't have Bluetooth. In the details it tells you to turn it off, it has no off switch. There is a dial on the end of the unit which turns, it doesn't click, just swivels, you can also press it like a button. To set the thing up, you have to turn it off by dialing the temperature to zero, then press and hold, press and hold, you get a double line -- then you can search for it with the app. Once it is joined on the WiFi you can set the program with different daily settings, or make them all the same, this is very good.I could not make this work for a long time. I kept having to take the batteries out because it would just cease to function and disconnect from the WiFi. When I did make it work, it didn't turn on radiator when it should. The dial/button on the end didn't or doesn't do anything, it is meant to enable you to manually temporarily change the temperature, it just doesn't do anything on my unit. On one instance the display panel turned on and I couldn't turn it off again, it just stayed on all night showing the last temperature it was set to.I've tried contacting the support email, I've had no response.After two days of messing with this unit, I did manage to get it to work turning the radiator on/off up and down through the configuration set on the app. When it does work, it is great, the temperature is much more even and during the day it turns the radiator off. I'm giving this 3 stars because I like the idea, but it needs better instructions, and I think the one I have is faulty because the button doesn't do anything.

Der Thermostat lässt sich einfach montieren (Adapter für diverse Heizkörperventile sind enthalten). Nach Installation der App und Registrierung im WLAN ließen sich die Thermostate problemlos anmelden. Man muss nur Herausfinden, dass man die EInstellung "Off" erreicht, wenn man die Temperatur am Thermostat herunter dreht (steht so nicht in der Anleitung). Dann kommt man auch in den Kopplungsmodus.

Sometimes it can be easy to find a ‘smart’ device appealing purely for its own sake, even if not really bringing much to the party, so to speak. As a smart device (wireless TRV) it works well enough, and is easy to control via the excellent (which I have used before) Tuya smart app. It can also interface with Alexa, but that would in many respects be even more pointless.Whilst on the face of it, this seems like a good idea, effectively it doesn’t really add usefulness. Considering my home heating system, I have a 2 x zone GCH system (large detached house). The ground floor is underfloor, the upper, conventional radiators. The heating system is controlled via a central programmer with each zone independently programmable. Each of the ground floor individual zones has a room thermostat, controlling each area’s temperature, similarly the upper floor has a TRV for each of the radiators, and a ‘central’ thermostat on the landing. Bear in mind that these valves only isolate / adjust temperature (stop the flow) to each individual radiator, but does NOT turn the heating on or off, which is done via the controller, with overall temperature control via the central thermostat. Generally speaking, you ‘set and forget’ a radiator, switching the heating on or off / programme times according to preference and ambient temperature. So these look smart (bit big and bulky), are very expensive, require shed loads of batteries (we have 8 x radiators – 4 x bedrooms, 3 x bathrooms, 1 x landing). I tried this, it was fine, but changed back again to the existing Siemens TRV.To summarise, the product is fine, comes complete with batteries plus adapters and decent instructions, but solves a problem that doesn’t exist! A decent TRV is inexpensive, requires no network, apps or batteries, and does exactly the same thing. Even if you maybe have a spare room that you turn the radiator down or off when not in use, it takes a second (quicker than opening an app etc does!) to turn the valve up or down. VERY expensive!I hope that you have found this helpful.

These Zigbee radiator valves seem to be good quality although a little on the large side compared to a standard radiator thermostat. You will need a Zigbee gateway of some description to control them via your phone or voice assistant, you can purchase ecobay’s own gateway but if you are looking at these stand alone TRVs then you probably already have a Zigbee gateway.As these are battery powered devices they do not function as Zigbee repeaters to extend the mesh network and therefore need to be positioned relatively close to the gateway, which I found problematic at the extremes of the property.As long as signal strength is good these are simple to set up and allow both remote control and most usefully the ability to set schedules. I have fitted both of these in bedrooms so the radiators don’t come on during the daytime when they aren’t occupied. I’m not sure they’re going to save enough on the gas bill to offset the £56 (£70 with 20% voucher at time of review) price tag any time soon, especially if you wanted to fit them in every room, but they work well.

Ich heize im Winter ausschließlich über diese smart Thermostate, da es eine Menge von Vorteilen birgt.Zunächst mal sind die Thermostate kinderleicht anzubringen. Mit den verschiedenen Adaptern, kann es an jedes beliebige Ventil angebracht werden. Die Einrichtung in der App ging ebenfalls schnell und problemlos vonstatten. Hier erhält man nun eine Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten. Man kann verschiedene Zeitpläne für das Thermostat festlegen, sodass nur geheizt wird, wenn man es wirklich braucht. Das Beste daran ist, dass wenn die gewünschte Temperatur erreicht wird, das Thermostat automatisch zu dreht. Auch erkennt es von selbst, wenn wieder geheizt werden muss. Das spart einem auf Dauer eine Menge Kosten ein, denn so wird nicht unnötig in die leere geheizt, obwohl es schon längst warm genug ist. Zudem eröffnet die Steuerung über die App die Möglichkeit, dieses von überall aus an anzusteuern. Bei Bedarf kann es auch an Alexa oder Google angebunden werden, was die Steuerung um ein weiteres vereinfacht. Dies hat bei mir super funktioniert. Das Display auf dem Thermostat zeigt die aktuell eingestellte Temperatur an. Auch bei hellem Licht ist dieses noch einwandfrei zu erkennen.Die Qualität des Thermostats ist ausgezeichnet. Es besteht aus äußerst hochwertigem Kunststoff und ist sehr gut verarbeitet. Dadurch ist es robust und verspricht Langlebigkeit. Das Design ist schlicht und fällt nicht störend auf. Insgesamt funktioniert das Thermostat zuverlässig. Es erreicht die gewünschte Temperatur und regelt dann die Heizung ganz von alleine. Ich konnte keinerlei Ausfälle feststellen.Ich könnte über das Thermostat zufriedener nicht sein. Jetzt kann ich meine Heizung ganz einfach vergessen, ohne dass die Temperatur unangenehm wird und ohne dass die Kosten explodieren.
