Having a shift sensor is a great idea for any mid-drive ebike. The motor can put enormous strain on your drivetrain, and the shift sensor cuts the power to the motor momentarily as soon as it senses any movement in the shifter cable. Results in smooth, torque-free shifts, greatly prolonging the life of your chain and rear cassette. Note that some motors (most Bafang) have a wire coming out of the motor to plug this sensor directly into (allowing it to be rear mounted at the derailleur.) If your motor doesn't have a separate cable for the shift sensor, you can mount it on the front shift lever and tie it into one of the brake cutoffs with an inexpensive Y-cable (not included). It functions the same either place.

It works exactly like it should. I almost wish the cord were a little longer (in my case anyway).
