Great for the price!!! I have 13 Amcrest and 3 Foscam cameras and this NVR works much better than the other Amcrest NVR I have -NV4116-HS. The Amcrest NVR costs 3 times as much and I have constant issues, but none with the NVR. Setup is a little confusing, but once you figure it out, it’s very reliable.

I bought this NVR to replace my older NVR and allow me to record some new 5MP IP cameras - my old NVR only supported 2MP cameras. As with most of the cheaper NVRs, the Evtevision comes without a hard drive for storing recordings. It was very easy to swap my existing WD purple 4TB surveillance drive into it. Just 4 NVR case screws and 4 mounting screws inside for the drive (these aren't provided). Connection internally is via a normal PC power and SATA connector - these cables are already in the unit so all you need is a hard drive (and mounting screws).Once the drive was installed the NVR booted OK and recognised the drive. I re-formatted it and was ready to setup my cameras. The NVR has both HDMI and VGA outputs. I connect mine via a computer monitor, but it could also easily be connected to a TV's HDMI port. The NVR runs from an external AC power brick (supplied) that delivers 12 volts to the unit. In operation I found it drew around 0.5 Amps at 12 Volts which is 6 Watts, about average for a unit that runs constantly and has a hard drive. With average UK electricity prices this is about 2.5p per day or £9.12 a year. The interface is very similar to my old NVR with all inputs conducted via a mouse (a small cheap USB mouse is provided with the unit, however it does work with a normal wireless dongle mouse which is what I use). This can be a pain, but only when entering IP addresses and passwords on the screen based keyboard. Most of the time you are just pointing and clicking. While you can plug a USB keyboard into the USB ports, it doesn't work. Mouse only input unfortunately. The NVR can run through a wizard that automatically scans for cameras on the network and it picked up all 9 of mine. I had to enter the passwords for each camera, but once entered, all cameras were showing and being recorded. They are a little fiddly to manually setup and it's not very intuitive unless you have used one of these units before.I use the NVR to record up to 9 POE IP web cameras 24x7. An alternative schedule for recording can be set for each camera over a 24 hour period. The NVR also supports motion detection and this can be setup on individual cameras. It can capture video and images when a motion event is detected and add an amount of post event time - all fairly standard NVR fayre. It can also send alerts if the video signal is lost, or blanked out.All 9 of my cameras record faultlessly with all recording at once - 4 of them are 5MP units (but streaming at 4MP resolution to lower bandwidth) and 5 older 2MP (1080) units. In 5MP mode the NVR can only play back a single channel at a time. Playback of a single channel is fine for my needs, but it is sometimes nice to be able to playback 2 channels where 2 cameras look at single location. The NVR can be set to a 1080 mode which allows playback of 2 channels simultaneously if this is a necessity.Recordings are easily played back picking a day from a calendar and then searching recordings for each camera. This would be a little easier if the camera names were used in the interface instead of just their numbers. Recordings can be exported in whole to a USB stick (2 x USB 2.0 ports are on the back of the unit) or you can select the start/end of an event and export just that clip to USB stick. The NVR can be cloud enabled and can be connected to over the internet using the xmeye mobile phone app. Although this isn't something I require, I have tested it and it does allow you to remotely monitor the NVR from your phone - with all the cloud based privacy and access worries this entails. There are a lot of features that the NVR supports that are far too many to go into, but it provides most of what is required for a small business or private home owner would need - like setting the time from the network, sending files to an FTP server etc. It appears to support WiFi and I did try to connect a USB WiFi dongle, but it wasn't recognised. With the amount of bandwidth an NVR needs to communicate with cameras a wired connection is really needed.I have contacted the Evtevision support email address to enquire about firmware upgrades and responses were prompt and helpful, so I can also actually highly rate the support provided as well. All in all I would recommend this unit to anyone wanting to run a small business or private home CCTV setup. It's small, fairly easy to operate and cheap to run. It also produces good recordings which can be exported to USB.

Installation sehr einfach.
