I have bought many knives over the years, and most of them are able to shave hair straight out of the box. Others may even pop the hair off of your arm without making contact with the skin. This is the first knife that I've purchased that is hair splitting straight out of the box! I was literally able to split a hair with this bad boy. I am waiting for a day off to put it to use, but I seriously doubt I'll have any issues cutting through basswood with this knife. If you can afford it, this is the way to go for sure!

This knife has all the blades you need to make a spoon, right in your pocket. The blades are super sharp! I can't wait to make some spoons on my camping trips next summer!

Thank you to all the reviewers who recommended this piece over other less expensive options! This is super sharp and exactly what I needed for spoon carving. Not cheap but ideal for its purpose.

I've carved out two spoons so far: one bird's eye maple, one cherry. These blades were scary sharp right out of the packaging and they're still making lovely little shavings. I already had a flexcut strop but haven't used it yet. I am completely satisfied. It's pricey but the locking mechanisms work perfectly and easily, the blades really are sharp, and they're the right blades for the job. I still wear cut protection gloves but haven't needed them. It's comfortable in my hand. Good addition to my carving set.
