Good quality pre filter sponge and holes are small enough to allow water to pass through but not big enough to allow detritus to pass through. 10/10 functionality.

It's prefiltering lot's of debris before the water would go to the main filter.The fishes also like, because they can find some reminder food there.

So ist der Schwamm zwar gut aber leider etwas klein für mein Filter für mein Garnelenbecken.

Diese Filterpatrone habe ich in meinem Aquarium auf das Ansaugrohr des Rucksackfilters gesteckt, wo er die Garnelenbabys schützen sollte.Da passt sie auch perfekt, kein Baby flutscht durch, die Oberfläche wird gerne abgeweidet.Allerdings geht der Durchfluss nach sehr kurzer Zeit, wir sprechen hier von 3-4 Tagen, richtig in die Knie.Ich habe versucht, nur den Filterschwamm vorsichtig abzuziehen um ihn auszuwaschen, aber dabei verliert er leider ziemlich viel Schmodder wieder.Den ganzen Filter wollte ich jetzt auch nicht 2x die Woche abnehmen.Habe diese Lösung daher leider verwerfen müssen.Bei ein paar Tieren geht das sicherlich ganz gut, bei hohem Besatz definitiv nicht zu empfehlen.

Bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Vorfiltereinsatz. Ich verwende ihn mit dem Aquaclear 20 Hang-On Filter. Passt wie eine 1 und keine Lücken durch die Babygarnelen schwimmen können. Musste meine Filterung umstellen, da die anderen Vorfilterschwämme alle nach 3/4 Tagen zugesetzt waren und damit enorm an Saugleistung eingebüßt haben oder jene eben einfach nicht babygarnelensicher waren. Die hier von Fluval sind bisher lediglich kurz im Einsatz aber bis jetzt bin ich sehr zufrieden. Keine einzige Garnele im Filter und guter Durchfluss. Preis ist etwas hoch aber das Produkt funktioniert halt. Durch die Mindestbestellmenge von 4 Stk. habe ich jetzt auch einige auf Reserve. Kann das Produkt daher weiterempfehlen.

Der Vorfilterschwamm fürs Fluval-Edge ist der einzige mit dem ich zufrieden bin.Er ist zwar sehr teuer aber unabdinglich für kleine Lebewesen im Becken.Unsere Handhabe: 2x auswaschen, 1x erneuern! (pro Monat).Damit die Pumpe ordentlich Durchsatz hat, würde ich ihn nicht allzu lange verwenden.

Habe den Schwamm als Vorfilter auf einem Aqua Clear 50 um ihn garnelensicher zu machen.Der Schwamm sitzt relativ locker auf dem Ansaugrohr, hält aber alleine durch den sog auf dem Rohr und fällt nicht herunter.Der Durchfluss hat sich nur minimal reduziert, ist absolut zu vernachlässigen.Von ca. 30 Babygarnelen ist eine einzige durch den Schwamm in den Filter geschlüpft. Bin absolut zufrieden.Habe zwei gekauft, die ich auswasche und untereinander wechsle.Wer wirklich 1000% sicher sein will, kann den Schwamm mit einem Kabelbinder o.Ä. festziehen. Aber wie gesagt, ist bei mir nicht nötig.Update nach 9 Monaten:Habe noch immer die gleichen Filter im Einsatz. Zig mal ausgewaschen und funktionieren immer noch perfekt. Der Schaum bleibt sehr formstabil (sind jetzt nur minimalst lockerer als vorher). Absolute Empfehlung!

UPDATE: I have been using these Fluval pre-filters for the past few years now, andthey really are quite useful in easing the load on an aquarium filter's mechanical filtration.I have these pre-filters on most of my planted aquaria, and I clean them once a week, since the flow is noticeably slower by that time.The fact that the water flow in an aquarium filter can be down to a trickle within a week's time, after installing one of these pre-filters on its intake, should give the reader an idea of their superb filtering ability.These filters are also available on Amazon.com in 3 packs for about $4.88, including shipping. This is the best deal that I have seen on these pre-filters.The reader should also find of interest that while these pre-filters are sold for the Aquaclear 20 filters on the Fluval 6 & 12 gallon Edge aquariums, they can also be used on the intakes of most filters whose diameter is up to a half inch, since these pre-filters will stretch a bit.The key is to clean them weekly so that they maintain good water flow. Until you have used a pre-filter, whether it's the Fluval or one from another aquarium filter manufacturer, you have no idea how beneficial these pre-filters are in easing the job of the mechanical filtration in your aquarium filter.* Notation: In regard to Aquaclear filters, this author also uses an Aquaclear 50 and Aquaclear 70 as dedicated mechanical filters for fine filtering (water polishing) the water in my planted aquaria. I use the AC 50 on the small tanks and the AC 70 on the larger ones, and just move the filters from one tank to the next, after they have been micron filtered.I use the foam block on the bottom of the basket for these filters, with a 25 micron filter pad from Marineland atop this foam block, and an 0.5 micron pad from a wine manufacturer sitting atop the Marineland micron filter. This gives these filters the ability to polish an aquarium's water column as well as a dedicated diatom filter, like a Vortex D-1 or XL; both of which I also have.This setup is for those fishkeepers who don't want to make the investment in a diatom filter, and have a spare Aquaclear filter laying around.Earlier...As a fishkeeper, I have quite a few guppies that are constantly reproducing, as well as a pair of Panda Coryadoras who spawn regularly, producing fry.In the past this led me to purchase a sponge filter that took up quite a bit of room in my *guppy tank.* By the time my Panda Cory's started to spawn, I had already been using the Fluval pre-filters in their aquarium.The small size of the fry also forced me to turn off the hob filter that I was using at the time in my guppy tank, in order to prevent guppy fry from being sucked into its intake.Then I saw these Fluval Edge pre-filters online, and having recalled reading that the Fluval Edge 6 gallon aquarium uses an Aquaclear 20 filter, decided to purchase a few of these pre-filters to install on the Aquaclear 20 filters I was using on my guppy tanks.They have worked out extremely well, reducing the amount of detritus in my Aquaclear filters, while being much quicker to clean.You simply slip the pre-filter off the intake of the Aquaclear filter, rinse it under some tap water, and reinstall it. The entire process takes less than a minute.As such, this author highly recommends the Fluval Edge pre-filter for use on the aforementioned Aquaclear hob filters, as well as any aquarium filter intake tube that has a diameter of 1/2" or less.
