I have learned quite a bit since accidentally getting this thinking it was for detecting carbon monoxide.H2S is hydrogen sulfide and smells like rotten eggs and it’s really irritating to your eyes.. It is highly toxic, even in low concentrations.By understanding the risks to all of this, it’s easier to implement safety measures and utilize the best out of this detector.I believe if you get this item, you will not be disappointed, it is pretty straightforward and exactly as the item is posted.Here is my honest opinion on this item:Excellent - If I absolutely love the product and it exceeds my expectation, I will actively suggest the product to my friends and would purchase it again myself as needed.Less than Excellent - I really like this item and it does what the seller claims it would do. I would more than likely recommend it to someone if I knew they were looking for that product.Sub Standard- This item is standard and for the most part does exactly what they say it does, but I would specify any differences. There may be things about a three star rating that I don’t like about the product. If I knew someone were looking for that specific item and I recommend it to them, I would also share with them the reservations that I have.Not so great - I take low ratings seriously. I also take seriously issues with items after you have spent good money on them. In this case, I would probably never recommend anything that I would rate two stars on, in fact, I would probably warn people so they would shy away from buying this item.You might want to find something else - It takes some serious issues to get a one star review from me. Review for: "TOPTES Guard-633 H2S Detector, H2S Monitor Clip On with Precise Gas Sensor, 0.5S Fast Response, 7-Day Battery Life, Low Battery Alert, Adjustable Alarm Range, 3 Alarm Modes, Explosion-Proof Safety"Brand: TOPTESFirst look: The TOPTES Hydrogen Sulfide Detector came in a black case inside an orange & black box (15.7 cm x 8 cm x 21.2 cm) with the user manual, mini USB to USB-A charging cord and standard gas hood. The detector has a locking clip and loop on the back.The detector is about 5.3 cm wide x 11.5 cm long and 3 cm deep, or 4.6 cm including belt clip.Operation & testing: Long-press the power button to turn the unit on it will then go through an LED (flashing lights) check, vibration check and audio check. Be sure all of them are working before you continue. The menu isn't very intuitive unless you've used TOPTES other detectors. I would suggest changing the date so you get used to how it operates. Short-press the power button to access the menu, then press the left button to select which digit you want to change, the right button to move the numbers up, and the power button again to confirm. The parts of the menu that require a password are intended for use by professionals only, so the password prevents regular users from accidentally affecting the operation of the detector. The initial password is "11".When the device senses a higher gas concentration than the alarm threshold, the alarms will beep, the speaker will issue a voice alert, the red LEDs will light up, the screen back light will turn on and it will vibrate. It will only turn off again when the gas concentration returns to normal levels.Opinion: This detector has a long battery life, and the sensor should last two years. I am surprised by the older style Mini USB cable, as most of the electronics now use USB-C. The user manual does have a copyright of 2024 which is fairly new, so it could be just an older design with the older-type charging cable.

However, my perception completely changed when I learned about a tragic incident where a couple was poisoned by H2S in their home basement, which they used for wine and vegetable storage—resulting in the death of one person. Even though I already have multiple CO detectors at home, I immediately felt the urgency to search for an H2S detector.To my relief, the same brand that makes my CO detectors also offers an H2S detector, so I ordered one without hesitation for the safety of my family. Since I also store vegetables in my basement, having an extra layer of protection brings me peace of mind.High-Quality Build & Effective DetectionWhen I received the detector, I was impressed by its quality and durability. The unit features a powerful alarm system that activates when H2S is detected, flashing red lights and emitting a loud warning tone. This ensures that any potential H2S leak is immediately noticeable, allowing me to react quickly.The manufacturer claims that this detector is explosion-resistant, though I certainly hope I never have to put that to the test. Regardless, it is reassuring to know that it is built for safety in high-risk environments.Convenient Clip-On Design for MobilityOne of my favorite features of this detector is its clip-on design, which allows me to securely attach it to my clothing. The rear clamp is strong and reliable, ensuring that the unit stays in place even during fast movements or rugged conditions.
