Mine arrived damaged the soldered metal links were already broken apart upon inspection. I actually used electrical tape to attach the metal links that were already broken. Then proceeded to wind up 11 hanks. Of course now I can’t fold the swift up, to store it away cuz then I’d have to remove the supporting electrical tape on the damaged links. If I wasn’t so inclined to wind up my yarn hanks, I would’ve just immediately returned it w/out giving it reconstruction. I will be keeping it as the ball winder is great for winding 2 different colored cakes into 1. I will be replacing the swift with a quality wooden one, because obviously the tape will eventually fail. My suggestion is if you aren’t handy enough to fix it, don’t buy this one.

Does the job well. The clamp is versatile enough to accommodate a wide variety of tabletops. I used it to wind 5oz balls. As you can see this makes cakes where the center is kind of loose. This is fine, but I would not recommend getting this "just in case" if most of your yarn comes in smaller packages.

A sweet lady gave me two garbage bags full of yarn that she didn’t want anymore. So when I seen the bags I thought my arm is going to look like Popeye’s arm. Either that or it’s going to be so sore I won’t be able to move for two months. So I bought this winder. It’s so awesome!!!! Don’t think about it just buy it!!!! It’s surprisingly put together well it’s metal not plastic. There’s a couple things that are plastic but the majority is metal. I wasn’t expecting that I really thought it would all be plastic. I have no complaints!!!

I was loaned a lesser version that kept getting the yarn caught in the gears & wound much smaller sized balls. This winder functions flawlessly, did not need the constant attention, & produced a much larger ball. Great ptiduct!

Can be tricky to use but it does do what it was created for. It was easy to set up.
