An essential tool for tying streamers and other large bugs, this material clamp is put together well and holds the material without tearing or damaging it and without being so loose that the clamp doesn't hold.I tie quite a bit of large streamers and salt water flies that use dubbing loops with more than one material in it. This clamp allows me to organize the dubbing, feathers, and flash in a way I can carefully insert it into the dubbing loops to spin it into a body material. I've tried several versions of a material clamp from repurposing cheap office supplies to overpaying for brand name tools. I would say this product ranks near the top when considering price and effectiveness and only time will really tell where it lands as with any clamp I worry about loosening over time. Nonetheless, this clamp came out of the package Goldilocks ready, meaning it's just right - not too tight, not too loose.The serrated jaws hold the material well. The jaws open up slightly unevenly meaning the tips open up a slight bit before the body of the clamp and the tips hold the most pressure on the material. The "chip clip" style clamps avoid this if that's a big issue. However, I find that using this design is also easier to maneuver into the tying loop with only a small amount of noticeable difference in how the clamp releases.I ordered medium and I will definitely use it. I will also have to order large, now, too because I feel I"d be able to use that just as much.

The jaws on these tweezers are symmetrical and the serrations are well aligned with each other so they're able to hold fine material without losing grip. The quality of the steel feels decent as the jaws have strong spring tension and are able to fully close along the length of the serrations. The rubber over molding is securely attached to the handles and is comfortable to hold and the tweezers are nicely rounded without any sharp edges. Overall these are helpful to use for clamping various materials. Something to note is that these have a relatively smooth surface finish although they don't appear to be plated.

This Kingfisher Fly Fishing Fly Tying Material Clamp would be handy for more small hobbies than just fly fishing. I'll be using this for soldering, painting small crafts, and I would've loved to have had this for when I was sewing in zippers as an extra set of hands.There are many styles of long-nosed tweezers, but many are cheap and too flexible to be of much use, or the jaws don't align enough to be of balue. Kingfisher tools seem to be a much higher quality overall, and I'll be slowly replacing my tools with their brand after trying out a few clamps and scissors. This pair has a rubbery, slightly-squishy coating on the grip portion, making it comfortable and easy to keep secure, even if your hands were wet. This would be easy to clamp a long feather and place it precisely in a line down the "back" of the fly you're tying, without worry of it curving before you cured the glue. The metal portion has a nice machined finish without rough edges, burrs or flaws, which is nice. It feels like this tool will last for years. The only negative to me - and this would ONLY depend on what type of hobby you were using it for - is that the rubbery grip may be hard to clean if you use it for oily, greasy applications, and I suppose it may be susceptible to certain chemicals that could damage it, but for fly-tying, these will be very handy!

This fly tying material clamp is great quality and features a very strong grip for holding all types of materials especially dubbing and maribou. It is made with thick stainless steel and has a pvc coated handle with a textured surface to provide a good grip. I will mainly be using this clamp for holding maribou which I use for the tails on wooly buggers and estaz leeches which really can make a mess if not clamped together while cutting a batch of it. This clamp will also work great for holding all types of dubbing and can also be used as pliers to pick fly tying material up off flat surfaces such as strands of flashabou. I have several other Kingfisher fly tying tools and have been impressed with all of them. These clamps have a very tight grip and teeth on the inside of the clamp for a secure hold. The Kinfisher logo is embossed on the clamp for a classy added touch. I never realized that there were clamps such as these for fly tying and am very happy I found them available to order. As with other Kingfisher fly tying products these clamps are a great value for such a low cost and I have found this product to be an indespensible tool to use in tying flies. I therefore recommend this product to all other fly tyers out there.
