Using this along with an extension pole (a separate purchase) to mount a portable monitor next to my laptop and gain an extra bit of screen real estate. It seems reasonably study, the price was right. The mounting plate that holds it to the desk is small but portable monitors are quite lightweight, so that should not be an issue. From what I can tell that clamp could hold a portable monitor, microphone or GoPro just fine. I wouldn't trust it to support a DSLR. Only con is the threads seemed to have excess lubricant on them, which is a minor nit.

This is a simple affordable clamp. Comes with common threads for mounting monitors, cameras, lights, and anything else with those threads. Pretty solid. Fits in pants pocket or bag pocket doesn’t take up much room. Good to have around.

This clamp seems to be only half the solution for most use cases. To get the best use out of it, you will need an extension rod, which is not included. That said, I ordered just the clamp. This review is solely based on my experience with just the clamp portion.I am giving this four stars as it is an above average value but it also is lacking some important features that keep it from being a 5 star product (see what I do not like below). What I like ~• The frame is cast aluminum so it is very sturdy.• There is padding on the sides of the clamp that do the squeezing to help prevent damage.• It looks professional• The little black protection cap protects me from getting snagged on the only "sharp-ish" part. What I do not like ~ (possible deal breakers for some)• The 1/4"screw is fixed solid, as is the platform that is attached to the clamp. I expected this to spin as a lock nut. Both of my web cams have holes that are too shallow and so are unable to securely fasten without me adding washers - Even with washers, it is a matter of luck whether or not the web cam is tight enough while facing the correct direction.• While there is padding to protect the top and bottom of the table, the portion of the clamp that can touch the side of the table has no such padding. Eventually, "something" will give this clamp a good whack and I won't be surprised if damage to the table finish happens.
