I attached it to the backstay of my (new to me) yacht, and before I had even been sailing in it, it snapped at the fixing in high winds. Not my fixing, the actual black plastic end fixing of the radar reflector. So it is clearly very lightweight and flimsy in use. Now I have to get the boat over to the harbour wall and pull the damn thing off and start again. Maybe superglue will fix it, but it is pretty cheap and nasty to have broken just in windy conditions (not gales or anything) without any other force acting upon it.

Great for sailboats if you want a small footprint, I attached to flag line.

I purchased this for kayaking in Northern Maine, the land of self-driving lobster boats.Basically, due to economics, the lobsterman works below deck while traveling. He has an autopilot GPS to get him to harbor, or to his traps, or the boatyard, whatever..... But there is no one at the wheel!! The guy has to work hard for a living so he is below deck working on the traps or lines. Instead, the radar is on, and it chimes if it sees something close to the boat.For a kayak, that could be 100-200 yards. So I put this on a fiberglass rod driveway marker, kluge it up to the boat with one of those toy flag holders for fishing kayaks, so its 4 feet above the water. Then I don't get overly anxious if there is fog and I hear the drone of a motor. Some sailboat said he could see me at 1/2 mile with radar in AGC mode (ie sensitivity not turned up), and that's when we ended the conversation...it could have more range
