La idea de Lansky resulta genial para afilar BIEN los cuchillos. Pero el producto está hecho en China y no controlan bien la calidad. El resultado es que muchas piedras no son planas y hay que rectificarlas, lo que representa comprar placas planas de diamente y frotar un tiempo hasta conseguir que sean planas.Se pueden conseguir piedras iguales, con la misma mala calidad, pero por mucho menos dinero

Los productos lansky son excelentes para el afilador novato o para alguien con más experiencia, la piedra de diamante extra gruesa es excelente para realizar trabajos de re-perfilado de una navaja o cuchillo. La recomiendo ampliamente!

Das Lansky System ist für den Hausgebrauch super. Der feine Stein macht schon eine tolle Schärfe, noch feiner muss gar nicht unbedingt sein. Kann ich nur empfehlen!

OK, you're gonna use a Lansky sharpening jig. The whole idea of a jig is to easily get REPEATABLE uniform results, whether it is on a table saw, with a router, a Lansky sharpener, or whatever. So the very first time you use your Lansky system on a tool or knife you need to grind/hone the edge of the thing you're trying to sharpen to the basic angle defined by the the hole(s) in the Lansky holder. The fastest and easiest way to do this is to use this Lansky Extra Coarse Diamond Hone Silver Holder. It is the coarsest and (because it uses diamond abrasives) the fastest way to grind/shape your tool or knife edge to the angle you've selected to sharpen to. If I may, a couple of other suggestions for using the Lansky sharpening system, especially for knives.1. Use a vise. It can be a light duty clamp-on or vacuum base hobbyist vise or a big honkin' machinist's or mechanic's vise - but use a vise. The Lansky holder is a kind of T-shaped devise and there are at least a couple of accessory thingies from Lansky for holding the holder, but I can't imagine them working any where near as well as even a light duty vise. After you clamp your knife in the Lansky holder, clamp the lower leg of the holder in your vise. Then stroke the Lansky stones along the blade of the knife (or other tool you're sharpening). You'll see that, even in a light duty vise, NOTHING MOVES! You just stroke, stroke the Lansky stones along the blade you're trying to sharpen and everything is calm, even, and uniform. Continue to however fine a stone you want for this blade. Yeah, you have to take a moment to loosen the vise jaw, turn the Lansky holder (and knife) over, and re-clamp the other leg of the Lansky holder in the vise. But I sincerely think it's worth it for the stability.2. (Mostly for fun.) If you have a 10x or stronger hand lens (such as: , take a look at the edge of the blade as you change through the finer and finer Lansky (or anybody else's) sharpening stones. Under strong magnification your blade will look like you've been rubbing it against a sidewalk or something when you use this extra coarse diamond stone. There is a truly huge difference that you can easily see for yourself when you "finish" sharpening your blades on a "sapphire" or "India" or fine grain Japanese water stone.Thanks for checking out my review.
