I had the need for a 8-port USB switch between multiple computers. Most dedicated USB switches are 4-port so I knew I was looking for a unicorn solution. I thought I would try to use this 8-port KVM VGA switch and just not connect the VGA cable.Pros:- using as an 8-port USB switch only worked perfectly, I just never connect the VGA cable- no beep when switching ports - I see this as a pro- left/right brackets included to mount in a 1U+ rack- I used a 1U rack to mount the switch under my desk, worked perfectly - I didn't realize the switch is actually 2/3 the height of a 1U rack row so I have a 1/3 space which is OK- port switching isn't faster or slower than any other USB switch I have used in the past - 2-3 seconds to switch- mine came with a power supply, I am guessing this might help with the switching speed and the glowing active switch red light- USB input ports on the front and back- comes with a full set of 8 KVM cables, amazing for this price point- case is metal, doesn't feel like it will fall apartI am not using the remote, but I tested it out and it works. With the buttons not marked (i.e. PC 1) I would have to remember which button is for which computer. Not a deal breaker, but I like pushing the marked buttons on the face of the switch.

Even though this is advertised as a "datacenter" solution i would describe it more as a "enthusiast" / home office / small office product.Why? When connecting only one device which is very power hungry but does not provide enough usb power and not enough hdmi cable power then this switch simply will not provide display or usb keyboard/mouse or both.Examples for this are: laptops, raspberries, small NUCs and any form of cable extensions or hdmi switches that weaken the signal strength of your hdmi connection.If you put at least one powerful device (in this case a desktop PC) on this switch that provides enough juice in the form of USB power and in the form of power coming through the hdmi cable then this switch will never make any problems.I was considering returning it but by now it has already a place in my heart.And it is fastened with zip ties. Which makes it hard to remove from my heart.

Unusable after just 33 days of use. Unable to return due to 30 days has passed.Error description:After plugging in HDMI ports 1-4 (looking at the ports from the left side) switching between ports it will only show ports 1. If you unplug 1, it automatically switches to port 3. After unplugging ports 1 and 3 ports 2 to 4 work perfectly, meaning switching between them works and shows different image.Same story goes to ports 5-8; 9-12; 13-16.Ports 1,3,6 and so forth, are overriding all sources.

Die Lieferung wie immer pünktlich und zu diesem Preis funktioniert der KVM sehr gut. Wer mehr Auflösung oder mehrere Bildschirme braucht, ist natürlich hier am falschen Platzt
