The drawstring is only what is visible in the image, not going around the waist. All it's length is 12 inch long, that's all, only for decoration to hang in the front of the trousers, sewed in the middle to don't fall out or be able to be moved. You need to rely on the elastic to keep the trousers on the kid. Did they saved that much on a little drawstring? Probably at large quantity it matters. I will avoid made in China textiles from now on, they always come with some unpleasant surprise. Why did they mention "Closure type: Drawstring" when is not the case? I didn't sent them back because the rest of the trouser seem to be ok.
