It fits in my car and my apartment. And, the Inlet was a good first Kayak purchase. It got me out on the water last summer. It holds up well if rocks in the river are unavoidable. But, when paddling with friends who have hard shells, the Inlet just doesn't keep up. It looks something like a kayak when set up, but lacks as a functionally streamline shape. All the little corners, while ingeniously created to make the Inlet foldable, create drag. So, to keep up, I was paddling 8 strokes to my friends' 3 strokes. Not much glide. The seat is kinda flimsy. It's attached at the base by a small notch and by two straps that attach to the gunnels. So, I never felt quite like I had complete body control of the hull.Still, it's a quality product, good for apartment dwellers looking for a basic, storable, easily ported kayak. I just outgrew it. Looking to sell and replace mine in '23.

First and foremost, this is a great concept. I love the portability factor and that my son and I were able to enjoy the kayak for the first two months of ownership. I noticed since its first use, that the boat seemed to take on water between the layers and contacted support. They indicated that this was cosmetic and normal however so I thought nothing of it. Fast forward a month of so later, my 3 year old son and I were on the lake as we have been before, when we started taking on more water than usual. We were able to get my son into a friend's kayak and I limped the boat back to the dock. Here we discovered a small leake at the point where 5 partitions fold in. Initially customer service was responsive (ticket filed May 22nd, response received the 24th) and they requested a video of the leak. Total fair, so I'd sent a video in when I was able to get the boat to the dock that following weekend. Since then I've sent two follow up emails June 6th, June 15th, and another one today June 27th in hopes to reach someone there about the issue and warranty resolution. I love the concept, I love the vision, if it were just a manufacturing defect I could still back this product and company (stuff happens). But having no resolution in sight and no responses to my follow up emails, I cannot recommend it to others as its likely I have burned $900 and will have to purchase elsewhere to get back on the water this summer.

First time putting together can be a bit intimidating. Took about an hour between institutions and the video. Golding back up took about 5 minutes. Second time opening took about ten minutes. Third time opening was at the lake and once again, maybe 10 minutes. Launched easily, was a fantastic ride in the water. When done, wiped it down, folded it up, and put it right into my car. Light weight, portable and fun!!! Highly recommend.

The Inlet is total freedom on the water in a 20lb box I have personally hiked in to mountain lakes that nobody else can access. With its backpack, the ORU Inlet is an incredible, durable, light origami kayak meeting the highest design standards. As a kayaker for 35 years, this advance in design is revolutionary. In the 2 months I’ve owned it, I’ve used it over 10 times—because it really can be set up in 3 minutes and taken from my Corolla’s trunk to the water spontaneously, on a whim. It’s crazy.

Clearly a very high quality kayak with an extremely well engineered design. Very easy to put together and take apart. I like the large space in the sitting area of the Inlet kayak. It paddles smoothly and seems to track amazingly well. As a long time kayaker, I was very pleased. I just love that it fits inside of my car and is lightweight at just 20 lbs.
