The Peak Design XS Camera Cube has become one of my favorite pieces of photography gear—not because it does anything crazy or flashy, but because it does exactly what I need it to. It’s compact, practical, and feels like it was made with someone like me in mind.Just the Right SizeThe size of this thing is perfect for how I shoot. It’s small enough to throw into a backpack without taking up too much space, but big enough to hold my full-frame mirrorless camera with a zoom lens attached. Sure, I’m not fitting a giant telephoto in here, but honestly, that’s not the point. This cube is all about keeping it simple.I typically use it to carry my camera with a smaller zoom or a prime lens. On days when I’m keeping things really light, I’ll throw in a spare battery or two, a filter, and maybe a little cleaning cloth. If you’re just starting out, this is all the space you’ll need for your kit lens and a couple of extras.Modular Dividers Are a LifesaverThe adjustable dividers inside are one of my favorite features. They’re sturdy but flexible, so I can rearrange things depending on what I’m carrying. On a recent trip, I I took the dividers out completely and just used it as a padded case for my camera and lens with a leash thrown on top. It’s not just practical—it’s kind of fun to tinker with. It makes me feel like I’ve got a custom solution every time I pack it up.Durable and TrustworthyPeak Design’s quality is hard to beat. The XS Camera Cube is no different. The materials feel tough enough to handle being tossed into an overhead bin or crammed into a stuffed backpack. And with their lifetime guarantee, I know they’ll back me up if anything goes wrong. The zippers are smooth, the fabric is weather resistent, and it just feels like something that’s going to last a long time. I’ve taken it on hikes, thrown it in the car for road trips, and even used it as an extra layer of protection for my gear in my luggage. It’s held up every time.Versatile for More Than Just CamerasOne of the coolest things about this cube is how it fits into Peak Design’s ecosystem. The anchor points let me attach a strap or leash, turning it into a small standalone bag when I don’t want to carry a full backpack. It’s super handy when I’m running quick errands or just need my camera and nothing else. What I’d ChangeIf there’s one thing I’d tweak, it’s the interior. The current lining works, but I wish it were a little softer. A more plush material or a touch of extra padding would make it feel just a bit more premium and give me more confidence when I’m carrying delicate gear. Why I Keep Coming Back to ItI’ve tried a lot of camera bags and inserts over the years, but the XS Camera Cube hits the sweet spot for me. It’s compact without feeling cramped, durable without being bulky, and versatile enough to adapt to whatever I need it for.If you’re a minimalist photographer or just someone who likes to keep their gear organized and protected, this cube could do the trick for you. For me, it’s been an easy choice every time I want to travel light, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

The combo of the XS cube along with the PD 7L outdoor sling is simply perfect. This barely but, perfectly fit a Sony a7rv with a mounted 50mm f1.4 GM lens making this combinaison the most portable EDC setup for me.

I use this as my “home” camera bag with my sports/sniper lens, portrait lens, and my stock lens on my Olympus. It fits all of these, 4 batteries, charger, and 2 flashes with ease. Nothing is over stuffed and I travel often with this. I haven’t seen any issues thus far.
