I love this cage. With an attachment of a plate to the side it does everything an L-bracket does and more, plus it allows for the complete movement of the swing out LCD screen.One annoyance. I don't like the placement of the "SmallRig" label right over the Canon label on my camera. I find it ostentatious that the manufacturer of an accessory would put their name "SmallRig" so boldly over that of a $4300 Canon Camera. So I blacked out the SmallRig label completely with black paint. I think a better placement the SmallRig label would be on the baseplate of the cage.

SmallRig mades simply excellent products. Beautifully machined, precise, solid as a rock, wonderfully designed. I used the black mamba cage on my R5 (mk1) for many years and just left it on, the added grip is welcome and it is so snug the size didn't matter at all. The cage for the mk2 is fairly easy to move off and on, but I'll just leave it on also. I have not yet used the handle, but plan to for video recording whales from a moving boat. I also use these cages in the studio on a tripod, and find the multitude of mounting points- some of which I add a cold shoe to, extremely convenient. I use the cable guide for running hdmi from camera body to to an atmos monitor, which I have yet to try with the mk2 cage/handle, and not sure if the old method of cold shoe or mounting to the handle will be best. Snapping the camera off and on my RRS quick release tripod head is so standard I can't operate without a mounting plate always on the camera, and the cage provides this and so much more. I think these smallrig units are the best product available and excellent value for the quality.

This Smallrig cage is very nice. Fits perfectly and is nicely machined. Has all the features as you would expect from Smallrig, and this kit also comes with a nice top handle and cable keeper. I really like most everything about this kit (by the way, this is my 5th Smallrig cage) except for the finish. It has some kind of a gritty texture which, to me, feels like nails on a chalk board. I wish they went with their usual smooth finish. Overall, this is a small issue, and I will still use it for many years, but in my mind, the finish was a solution without a problem. The finish is a 1 star ding in my review.
