Taking the dash apart is never fun. But I was greatful that this heater core was a direct replacement for the leaking original part. I've head great success with this brand in the past, and will continue to trust their products.

had to trim my 2000 durango heater box and add some foam to make this fit. not great but it works. considering there very few options out there for the vehicle, gotta take what you can get. If there were better options, I would have returned this.

had a leak on the heater core of my 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport, and the thing was essentially venting out more vaporized coolant than it was hot air into my truck.This version fit in the place of the old one, however, the one before it was much skinnier, and I had to cut / tear off two little plastic mounts that held the old one in place to accommodate the new one.The heater works phenomenally, however, I noticed the airflow out at max heat was *slightly* lower than beforehand, however its nothing worth noting, compared to how well this one works over the last.The component appears thick and durable, however also appears to be made from aluminum, whereas the other was copper. What difference this will make in the longrun, I am uncertain, but am sure it will likely outlive the truck.an absolute must-have if you have the technical abilities for a replacement on your vehicle

Due to some necessary rust-treatment on my 93' Chrysler LeBaron Sedan I had to take the dash apart and decided on replacing the heater core right away as the heating of the car did not really work well anymore.The Spectra heater core is a little larger than the original one and seems to be of higher quality. Installation is more or less straight forward, it also comes with the sealing / bearing tape already glued on.To exchange it you have to get the heater/A/C box out of the vehicle which involves removing driver and passenger side seats, the center console, all switches and trim from the instrument panel and finally the instrument panel itself. Then the box is held by 4 nuts on the firewall (access and remove them from the engine-side). Note that in order to get the box out you have to remove the coolant hoses leading to the heater core and the A/C hoses on the other side. This involves having to have the A/C system drained by a licensed shop!When all this is done the complete box (including the main air distribution, blower motor and other small parts) can be easily dragged back out and the heater core replaced after removing several screws from the top-cover.The heating performance of the vehicle is much better now that I have exchanged the core.All in all it works as expected, it comes with the sealing and it's well priced AND: it's manufactured in North America. - 5 stars!
