I've seen this tap handle on Youtube in many video's. Always loved how it looked. I needed a new tap handle (broke both of my old ones), so I decided to splurge a little bit and buy this one.I had high expectations, considering the amount of horn blowing that happens when something is made in the United States. The tool itself is great quality. Just unfortunate that it is full of some kind of grinding dust or sand. It really did not feel as nice as it looks until I cleaned it out completely and gave it some grease.I will be keeping an eye out for the bigger model. Though, Starrett tools are not easy to find here in the Netherlands...

THAT'S RIGHT! If you're looking to get something screwed, this Starrett 91B Tap Wrench, 3/16" - 1/2" Tap Size, 5/32" - 9/32" Square Shank Diameter, 9" Body Length is absolutely for you.I spend more time watching machinist videos than actually doing the work.I'm at best a part time machinist, however, any time I've gone and used my trusty tap and die set from that discount tool store you know and love, it's worked - with some accuracy - part of the time.I do like to save money, I also take pride in my work but I can't stand it when cheap tools make me and my work, look like a chump. This Starrett 91B is not cheap and not meant for chumps. It's actually pretty expensive, Professionals use these. You'll only need to hold it in your hands once to note the workmanship and attention to detail.Even lifting it from it's tailor made box, that's the feel of quality precision and dead accuracy. The smell of fresh cut threads, Simply the best and worth the money you'll spend as it's not purchase, it's an investment.Every job I do with my Starrett 91B will make my work better, my reputation stronger and make me more money.I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU BUY THIS Starrett 91BYou will NOT be disappointed. There won't be a hole you can't tap, 'cause, You'll be doin the Screw in

I have not tapped many holes before, but now have a project requiring me to tap nearly 100 holes in extruded aluminum, so buying a quality tap wrench was easily justified. Mine was made in the U.S.A. and did not have the thread gunk that others have mentioned here (the first thing I did was take it apart to check). I loaded up my 5/16-18 tap and got to work. The way this feels in your hand when turning and spinning is fantastic. The handle tightens down well on the tap and doesn't come loose. The monolithic design is really worth the price of the tool in my opinion. No one likes tapping holes, so at least get some satisfaction by using a high quality tool during the process. In my case, I 3D printed a 3 inch long jig/template to affix to the end of my profiles to ensure I'm getting perpendicular taps (see photo). This method is working very well and I don't have to worry about the tap getting out of alignment on the first bite of the aluminum, especially since my extrusions are very long so I have to tap horizontally.
