Honestly this book is simply incredible. We dive deep into the story as it unfolds before us offering a very in-depth and intricate story. The first book seemingly set the scene and we then were plunged into the Atlas Paradox entirely! We learn so much more about the Society and we see each character develop (or deteriorate) as each page turns. We see how the effects of death and loss consumed those in the house and how it makes them stronger all the same.We see love, or at least a form of it, we see plenty of action and the twists and turns just keep us wanting more until the very end.Definitely well recommended and it made me dive straight into book three, wanting to know how it continues as things continue to expand at a rate that only the universe can compete with.

Badly written. Could've been GREAT if the author stuck to her principles instead of listening to dumb fan girls on social media. I hated the random ramblings about life or whatever. The story was going no where.

The first book was really good. I loved the tension, the intrigue, the mystery, and so on but I just can't get through the second book. I started reading, quite eagerly, since the ending of the first book left you thirsting for the next. I don't know what happened since the first book, but this one is filled with endless introspection and overall thoughts. I can't seem to get through it and have skipped several pages, trying to get through. My boyfriend has read both books as well and says the first book was undoubtedly better and still enjoyed the second one as well. He says the middel and end were very good and he's curious about where things are going.

The Atlas Paradox picks up where The Atlas Six left off. We see the initiation ritual of our five candidates and accompany them throughout their second year at the Alexandrian Library. There was some plot going on (especially at the beginning and the end), but mostly the story is character-driven and all vibes. The focus seems to be (again) on the inner workings of everybody – their desires, wants, needs, fears, dark places – and the book dives deep into it.It's true that there are some unlikely alliances going on, but I really loved the exploration and execution of that. Especially with the attitudes and resistance that went with it.At times – a lot of times, actually – the book and characters seemed and sounded pretentious. But to be fair, it's a Dark Academia book and pretentiousness is kiiiiiiind of a distinctive element. And it was very well done. *Chef's kiss* I absolutely enjoyed every moment of it!There was even more talk of science theory, philosophy, psychology, morals, ... than in the first book, and if that doesn't interest you, it could be frustrating to get through.I have to say that The Atlas Paradox didn't grab me as much as The Atlas Six did. It was very easy to put the book aside and do something else instead. And I'm not used to loving a story but not feeling the need to read everything in one go.Also, the way the passage of time was shown was sometimes a bit confusing. Weeks or months went by in just one sentence in the middle of a chapter. The casualness of that pulled me out of my reading flow, and I would have liked at least a new paragraph or some other visual separation. But guys, THE BANTER! The banter and snark and overall dialogues. I just! Wow! I loved it! Olivie Blake certainly knows how to do it! That alone kept me coming back to this book time and time again. Also, the ending? A bit dramatic and maybe cliché, but I have to admit, I ate it up.The last thing I want to say: I'm both amazed and terrified by Libby's character development. Let's see what the third book will bring.

The Atlas Paradox starts off right where The atlas Six left off, with the official initiation of the candidates into the Alexandrian Society. Because of the ritual, alliances are shifting again. Though they are all still wondering about what happened at the end of book one, each of them is now also working on their own research, exploring the boundaries of themselves and the Alexandrian collection at the same time. The book starts off with a chapter from Gideon’s perspective. There is a lot more from him in this sequel than in book 2 and there are a couple of other characters that will also start to take on a bigger role and some that are newly introduced. They are all extremely well written, flawed characters. You can feel them coming to life through the choices they make, the way they think and how they evolve because of the knowledge and experiences they gain. You will be pondering your existence right along with them. The plot felt a bit slow during the first half while it was exploring the characters in their new roles within the society and there are lots of details put in that seemingly aren’t relevant to the plot. However, during the second half, all of those random threads of thought are coming together seamlessly and it becomes a real page-turner. Rereading The Atlas Six before diving into this one, was a fabulous idea. It is even better the second time as you can see that all the puzzle pieces are being laid out pretty early on and then start to fall together really nicely. I’m pretty sure that it will be a similarly satisfying experience when reading The Atlas Paradox for a second time. While the first time, you will need all of your brain capacity to get a grasp of the scientific concepts that are being explored, whilst also keeping track of the character dynamics, the second time you can just enjoy the beautiful plotting that Olivie Blake has created. As this is written through all of these different characters as unreliable narrators. Their individual history and side-plots bring some interesting revelations to the surface in those moments when you least expect it. As a reader you can see that every single one of these characters is holding pieces of different puzzles and it can be frustrating at times to know the answer to different questions or problems that some of the characters have, but you still need to see them suffer on their journey to come to those epiphanies themselves. Every single character carries a crucial part of the story and it is often sad having to move on to a different pov at the start of a new chapter. But then you’ll remember what these other characters were up to and will surely again be enveloped in their journey in no time.Lots of questions are answered in this book and some new ones rise up that will make you want to pick up the finale of this mind-blowing trilogy immediately. Thanks to Pan Macmillan, Tor for providing me with a review copy via NetGalley.

Extraordinarily complex. It's an intricate read on many levels. From book 1, Atlas 6, a second installment reader should have already bought into the theme, plot, and premise. If that's the case, it’s a must-read in the genre from an author largely unknown 2 years ago.The characters, both protagonists and antagonists, are detestable. It's not easy to write such self-loathing characters consumed by their lack of redeeming social value. Delightful! Blake has the authoring skill for character development. I’ve not read a similar character-centric writer since Pynchon. The writing is extraordinarily skillful. Blake's writing has been the highlight for me.Blakes’s word-hoard palette is phenomenal. It’s fun to read such an expansive vocabulary correctly applied to the turn of a phrase. The twists and turns of conversation are just fun.Anyway, the characters are left trapped in a trap of their own making by the end. They remain so far incapable of even short-duration cooperation to engineer their way out of the trap. The third installment should be fun.
