I'll start by addressing the elephant in the review, so to speak, which is the translation. It's... fine. I found it amusing in some places but never found it indecipherable. Would I prefer that it was written by a native English speaker? Sure, why not, but I'm not so arrogant as not to realise that many others around the world have to deal with this sort of thing in the other direction. This is hands down the best book on the PC Engine that is available. Every fan of the console should own this book. It has an entry on every game. It has rating markers to help you identify the gems, the true stars and the proper stinkers. By that I mean some games have a heart, a star or a skull alongside their entry. I don't always agree but that is part of the fun. I like reading why the author loves certain games and despises others. It also has their stats (size, release date, name variants etc.) and interesting facts. What's not to love? Thoroughly enjoyed and recommended.

Über Hardware, Software und Geschichte der PC Engine und ihrer Nachfolger findet sich hier alles. Alle Spiele haben sogar eine Rezension erhalten. Ich stimme dem Autor zwar bei diesen oft nicht ganz zu, grundsätzlich aber eine schöne Sache und ein toller Überblick. Ich stöbere fast jeden Tag mal in diesem umfangreichen Buch; ein toller Schinken!

Great book for cataloguing the history of this console which is slowly but surely being lost to time, recommended for even someone with a passive interest in video game or console history, incredibly informative, beautiful, heavy duty, and packed to the brim with entertainment. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and believe it's a great service to catalogue history like this, especially in a really engaging way. Helps provide enough information for collectors as well to make decisions regarding future purchases in relation to the system and their hobby.

Un libro muy completo con muchísima información de los juegos de pc engine y pc FX con toneladas de datos que harán las delicias de los que nos encanta este sistema, eso sí, en inglés. Se repasan todos y cada uno de los juegos oficiales y no oficiales salidos en hucard y cdrom con texto y como mínimo una imagen así como todo tipo de datos del desarrollo y técnicos de la propia máquina de nec y Hudson.Cómo punto negativo indicar que hay bastantes errores como datos intercambiados, imágenes de un juego en otro y textos cortados que hacen pensar que ha habido prisas al sacarlo y que deslucen el conjunto. No obstante puesto que encontrar información fuera de Japón de este sistema es muy complicado el libro merece mucho la pena.

The level of research in this book is second-to-none, but at times there are rather glaring problems with the original French being translated into English word-for-word instead of having the intended meaning preserved. This is particularly the case with idioms, and the translation issues are persistent enough to be distracting at times; hiring a native speaker with professional editing credentials to look over the finished product prior to distribution would have been worth the money. Nonetheless, if you want something which covers everything to do with the PC Engine/Turbografx you won't find a better book anywhere. I still thoroughly enjoyed it, consider this more a suggestion for future projects or a revised edition.
