Replacing the latch is not hard and takes about 15 minutes.1) You must remove the door from the machine (2 screws) and then...2) Separate the front and back of the door with several screws around its periphery.3) Once inside you'll find on of the screws you removed to separate the two pieces also held one side of the latch. There is another screw on the latch you must remove to take out the broken piece before replacing it with the new latch.4) Install the new latch and tighten up the one screw.5) Reassemble the two halves of the door with screws.6) You will need to be careful reinstalling the door. As you snug up those two screws check to make sure the latch is going in to go into the middle of the hole for it in the machine. I found there was a lot of play that could allow the latch to strike the machine and not go in the hole if you just tightened the door screws without checking. This latch is a poor design that will likely fail again. Unfortunately, it is used in many brands of washing machines. You really have to be careful closing the washer door to make sure the tab sticking out of the back of the door from this latch goes into the hole. Then you must press the door tightly against the machine to insure it latches. If you just slam it shut you'll risk breaking the latch like I did on the original latch. In summary, this latch is fine as a replacement. The design of the latch is not this manufacturer's issue. However, don't be surprised that in the coming months or years you have to replace the latch again.
