At-a-glance (full review below):PROS:- Good size- Works well with Arduino- High quality, supports partial updatesCONS:- [None so far]—— Full Review ——Out of the package I was very pleased with this e-ink display module. The size is perfect for many projects as it is compact enough to fit in a small case but there’s still a good amount of screen real-estate.As I had hoped, the module is compatible with my Arduino boards, which is perfect since I tend to use ATMEGA- or ESP-based microcontrollers in my projects. The display module has an on-board logic level converter so working with a 5-volt microcontroller still works properly, so long as you set the level jumper correctly (it is set properly when I received the board). I’m not sure though if this jumper is set correctly for a Pi Pico if it’s being powered by USB, as I believe it runs at 3.3V but the VSYS pin would be connected to the 5V USB input. If I am able to get my hands on a Pi Pico to try I will update to confirm whether this works correctly.Using the EPD library for Arduino, I was able to get the module working pretty quickly! The library does require a bit of reading to get the configuration correct, but using the documentation it was straight-forward enough. The demo program works perfectly on the module and the display looks great for all the different patterns displayed: text and graphics are all very clear. The partial-update mode also works well for updating only small portions of the display which should help with power saving.Overall, this is a great e-ink display if you’re a maker looking to add a low-power display to your project! The price ($49 CAD at time of review) is not too bad in my opinion, so I would definitely recommend this display.

This e-paper display is quite unique. I have never seen a module like this before and I can think of a million different uses for it. I am just getting into the whole microcontroller world and making projects of all kinds so I have seen many brands and offerings over the last two years. The quality of this e-paper display is excellent as well as the protective packaging it comes in. I am still working on a project to apply this to, and will display some photos when that is complete. Otherwise I am very happy so far.I particularly like how there is greyscale and its not just a black or white pixel. This allows for many images with detail and shading to be shown on this display, and not just basic text.Eventually I imagine the price will come down, but its right in line with the competition. I look forward to more Waveshare products as the boards are cleanly soldered and assembled. I appreciate the quality risers that are included as well as the wire harness.5 stars for sure
