This thing is a blast to play with and definitely feels like it's helping my arm joints. I like to use it while watching TV. Might as well get some use out of my downtime.

This is a neat little gadget for strengthening your wrists, grip and forearms. It's almost like a toy or a game, so it's challenging and fun but it delivers a great targeted workout. It took me awhile to get the hang of using this thing, but once I did, it gave me a great workout that I could feel in my hands, wrists and forearms. This gyro ball has a smart design the lets you basically wind it up to get the ball rolling (ha ha, that's literally what you do, it's not just a figure of speech in this case), then you grip it in your hand and your job is to keep the ball rolling (spinning) and increase its speed with your wrist movements. The way you have to grip the ball and the hand/wrist/forearm movements required to keep it spinning all contribute to the workout. You can work at your own pace, starting out with just a few minutes or a few times a week, and work up to longer times or more frequent usage as your muscles strengthen. I love that it is a small gadget that doesn't take up much room; I am keeping mine on the side table next to where I always sit in the evenings to relax and watch TV, and use it as I'm watching TV. You could keep it it in your desk drawer at work for quick mental/physical breaks in your day, or you could keep it in your gym bag and work it into your gym routine. You could even get a couple of these and sprinkle them around the various locations that are handy for you.The ball isn't overly heavy but has a good heft to it. Inner workings of it include some metal components; the outer shell is plastic with a silicone band overlay that lets you get a good grip, and also provides a bit of cushioning and shock absorption if you happen to drop the ball. It comes with a zippered case that has a carry strap, and also a separate strap that you can install on the ball itself, if desired, presumably so you won't accidentally let go of the ball while using it, sending it flying through the room. You can leave that strap off if you prefer.Overall, this is a really neat and effective gadget. It's fun and challenging, can be used anywhere, and I can really feel it working the small muscles in my wrists/forearms and also my hands/grip.

I used to have something like this as a kid but you had to get the inner ball moving but running it on the ground. This model only requires you pull it a bit then let it go. It works great and does a wonderful job on the wrist, hand and probably forearm.

This isn't actually the first gyroball I've owned, but I must say the build quality on this is definitely superior to a certain "name brand" model that popularized the design. It simply spins much more smoothly, and has done so over a fair amount of use.The sping starter works brilliantly and makes it very easy to use without the need for a pull string like most versions and it's about the same price as string start balls. The only thing I can say negative and it's only a theory based on my own efforts, is that the fact it only spins one direction might give this a bias towards right handed use. The easier direction of rotation (for the wrist) aligns with what appears to be the preferred spin direction in the right hand. However in my left hand the ball often exhibits paradoxic rotation where it spins the opposite direction of my wrist motion. I had noticed this happening with my other gyro ball when I started it for my right hand and moved it to my left, yet if I started it for my left it did not occur. It might just be me, but I think there's something to it.

This gyro ball is a lot of fun and quite the little workout once you get the hang of it. At first I was very underwhelmed because it just didn’t click in my brain what I was supposed to do. Then I got it and it was the best wrist workout I have had in awhile thanks to wrist pain. After 15 minutes of doing this I had a wrist and forearm numb from the movement. The best part, after the numbness wore off the pain started to lessen. I know it isn’t a miracle cure but stabilizing and strengthening the small muscles in the wrist is never a bad thing. I love this thing for the novelty and the workout.
