When I bought it there was a promotion on and for the price it was an amazing deal; 3 models for $35. The quality of each model is what you expect from Airfix and was very happy with them. The big issue with these gift/starter sets is the paints included. Don't expect to buy these kits as a gift and expect the person you are buying them for to be able to paint their model with the include paints. If you buy this kit (and all starter/gift sets) knowing that you will have to invest in paints to complete to kits to a reasonable standard then they are good. My advice is to buy when there is a sale on because the actual kits are well worth the investment for a beginning modeler.

Could not be more disappointed with this item. Out of the 11 paint cups included five are useless as they either opened in the bag or were all dried out. Great concept to provide the paint, brushes and glue but execution is horrible

I used to make these as a kid and decided to take it up again . From what I remembered back in the day most of a kit could be put together without using glue . Not so much now , many parts required the glue . So in some cases had to get creative holding a part in place whilst the glue dried . The kit itself is pretty much how I remember but now have more detail , especially for the parts inside the kit . I display these by hanging them from the ceiling so I don’t really care about the insides , which explains why the Vulcan is a $100 kit . My only complaint was that the paint was quite poor , half of it was unusable even with thinners . But I had fun and will probably buy a few more …maybe not the Vulcan though which was the kit I really wanted to get .
