I installed this GPS unit into a Carbon Cub.A couple minuses.. it fits into a notch inside the radio compartment of the cub, after a while it probably will get knocked loose so you need to secure it some other way (I used tape for now).the other problem was it's very hard to connect to the flight controller of the Cub as the port is on the side and not visible, also the space is tight. The plug has a tendency to get pulled out easily if you pull on the wire harness. You will have to do an initial GPS lock and compass calibration before the first flight. Power up the transmitter, then the plane, and it will go in to GPS seeking mode (elevator wags slowly), once it locks it will go directly into the compass calibration mode. Follow instructions carefully to do that. Especially in the order that you turn off devices, you must turn off transmitter FIRST then the receiver in order for it to accept the calibration. After that you are good to go for flight. on the carbon cub, after you power up transmitter then plane, and flip the plane up right it will go into GPS seeking mode, when it locks it will wag the elevator fast. You can do your pre-flight tests, and taxi it out. It will pulse the motor while taxiing to make it easier (I suppose).. When ready for takeoff you can set the home position by holding down the bind button on the transmitter, and it will wag all control surfaces to signal it got it.Be very careful to have it pointed straight down the runway while setting the home position. because if you use the auto land, it will set up a final that is on that exact heading. In my first attempt the plane was slightly angled on the runway (I had a cross wind to fly into) and so when I went to auto land it began to head to fly over our no-fly zone to set up final.I think that having the GPS unit on a beginner plane is a great idea because if you are starting to lose the plane you can press the bind button and it will fly back and circle, or you can hold the bind button to auto land it. Also you can set up a geo fence so that it will just not fly away.

I went and blew the 59 bucks for this thing for my carbon cub and I didn't play with it alit but I didn't like when it took over.. I liked the general idea of it but as of now not a fan.. I kept it but took it out.. maybe one day I'll try it again and it may grow on me.. but for now fly manually.
